Types of Newborn Sessions
There are two main types of newborn photography: Studio and Lifestyle. Studio sessions take place in the photographer’s studio {obviously} while Lifestyle newborn sessions are done in your home.
I’ve been a Lifestyle Newborn Photographer in the Indianapolis area since 2017 and there is a lot to love about them!
1. Comfort
The #1 reason to choose a Lifestyle Newborn Session is comfort. The photographer comes to YOU, and the session takes place from the comfort and convenience of your own home. That means no packing up a diaper bag, hauling outfits for the whole family to a studio, and worrying about traffic.
It’s also super easy to involve siblings and pets. They can come and go as needed throughout the session.
2. Baby’s First Home
A second benefit of a Lifestyle Newborn Session is that the photos will show the place you brought your newborn home to. Years from now you’ll get to look back and remember the exact spot where you snuggled on the couch, rocked during nighttime feedings, or hung up those nursery decorations you carefully picked out. Just like every family is different, every home is different too, and yours tells a unique story.
3. Family Connection
Another reason why Lifestyle Newborn Sessions are special is that they focus on connections with the whole family. While these interactions can be mimicked in a studio setting, there is a true authentic element at home. It’s always sweet to see an older sibling peering over the crib at their new baby brother or sister, or the whole family cuddled up on Mom & Dad’s bed. It’s fun to see how pets respond to their new tiny human too!
